But Gujarat is the state that in the year 2009-10 has seen 12.99% Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth against the target of 11.2% GSDP as set by the Planning Commission under the 11th Five-Year Plan (2007-12). This data has been revealed in the report of the government. So the state of Gujarat is keeping up very well even during recession and managed to clear it with more than expected growth.

Among all the private industries and growing sectors, Government of Gujarat has played a huge role in the overall development of the state. One of the major developments undertaken by the Government is the establishment of solar energy plant in the state with the capacity of 716 MW Solar Power. This has generated employment for at least 5000 people.
